Report from the 5th Masovian Welding Symposium
On September 22, the 5th Masovian Welding Symposium was held. The host of the meeting was the Joint Engineering Department at the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology together with the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians (SIMP). The partner of the Symposium was the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT). The meeting was organized in the New Technology Building of the MT Faculty. 175 people attended the event.
Guests and sponsors were welcomed by prof. Tomasz Chmielewski, dean of the Faculty of MT and prof. Dariusz Golański, chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium. Among the many guests, the symposium was attended by prof. Grzegorz Rogalski from the Gdańsk University of Technology and prof. Krzysztof Kudła from the Częstochowa University of Technology, Adam Ogrodnik, Vice President of UDT, participated in the opening ceremony. In the first part of the meeting, prof. Tomasz Chmielewski, the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, presented the structure of the faculty with the scope of scientific activity and a summary of the didactic offer.
In the first part of the symposium, two presentation sessions were held. After lunch, there was an exhibition of active welding equipment. In the second part of the day, the third presentation session was organized. A series of papers were presented presenting practical aspects of modern materials, technologies and devices in the field of welding and non-destructive testing. Three papers were also presented on the current scientific achievements in welding. The papers listed below were appreciated by the participants and aroused real interest due to their high practical value. In the first session, Mr. Radosław Hołownia, UDT presented a paper "Detection of high-temperature hydrogen attack with ultrasonic techniques", then Mr. Marcin Nowak - Technika Spawalnicza Sp. z o.o. presented the material "A new version of friction stir welding Friction Stir Welding". The third lecture was given by Mr. Robert - ESAB Lazik “Innovative welding systems. Warrior EDGE ”. Then Mr. Grzegorz Stupak - RHC RYWAL gave a presentation entitled “RHC's RYWALl 30 years of experience. Why is it worth welding with non-copper wires? "
The second plenary session began with a lecture by academics from the Warsaw University of Technology, Beata Skowrońska, Jacek Szulc (Supra Elco), Mariusz Bober, Michał Baranowski, Tomasz Chmielewski, entitled “Selected Properties of Ramor 500 Ballistic Steel Plasma-MAG Hybrid Welded Joints”. Then, Mr. Jacek from the MESSER company gave a lecture on "MESSER three-component shielding gases".
The third lecture in the second session was delivered by Mr. Mariusz Bereziuk from ABICOR BINZEL, entitled "ABICOR BINZEL - New products and new opportunities". The second session ended with a lecture by Mr. Andrzej Radziszewski from RESURS, entitled "Thermal spraying and welding in repairs".
Another planned part of the Symposium was an exhibition of devices and apparatus related to bonding engineering and non-destructive testing. The participants of the symposium visited the stands, discussed with exhibitors and presenters of the equipment and often personally tested the equipment.
The third plenary session was opened by Mr. Remigiusz Synowiec from IPG Photonics, "Manual laser welding and cleaning system for typical metal processing using a 1.5 kW fiber laser source". Then, Mr. Adam Radziszewski from Technical Solution Radziszewski gave a presentation on "Micro-welding and galvanic padding". The third presentation in this part was by the team from the Warsaw University of Technology Paweł Kołodziejczak, Mariusz Bober, Tomasz Chmielewski "Comparative studies of the wear resistance of high-alloy protective coatings for the energy industry made with the use of the MAG method in the CMT variant". The next lecture was delivered by a guest from the Gdańsk University of Technology, professor Grzegorz Rogalski, "Qualification of the technology of welding sieve bottoms on the example of industrial heat exchangers". The last presentation was given by Mr. Mariusz Spodobalski from SupraElco "IPG robotic welding systems"
In the last part of the meeting, professor Dariusz Golański summed up the course of the symposium, thanked the sponsors and participants and invited them to the next VI Mazowiecki Welding Symposium on June 22, 2023. Then, participation certificates were handed out.
Participants were invited to a social event in a nearby pub, where talks and discussions were held until the evening on the present state and the future development of bonding engineering. During the meeting, many new business and social contacts were established, and as a consequence, the network of connections of welding engineers in Mazovia and in its close vicinity was significantly enlarged.
The symposium was organized in accordance with the process of maintaining certificates of competence of IWE (International Welding Engineer) engineers.
