Warsaw University of Technology welcomed Gulf Delegation for Executive Course on Foresight and Disruption

Between 6 and 10 October 2025, the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) had the pleasure of hosting an international executive course titled “Harnessing Disruption: Strategic Foresight for Resilience & Growth.” The programme was designed by Futures Diamond Ltd and the Futures Capacity Academy (UK), in collaboration with WUT, which provided academic contributions, and organisational support.

The course brought together twenty senior executives and policymakers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for five days of intensive learning and exchange in the heart of Warsaw. Directed by Dr. Rafael Popper — also an Adjunct Professor at WUT — the sessions explored how foresight and innovation can help institutions navigate uncertainty, strengthen resilience, and turn disruption into sustainable growth.

The sessions took place in WUT’s facilities on Rektorska 4, with additional visits to the University’s historic Main Building and Faculty of Architecture, showcasing WUT’s rich heritage and academic excellence. The delegation was welcomed by members of the University authorities, who presented WUT’s international profile and areas of research and innovation.

During the week:
• Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, Vice-Rector for Research, welcomed participants and presented key highlights about WUT.
• Prof. Tomasz Chmielewski, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, introduced the activities of his Faculty.
• Dr. Grzegorz Robak, Director of International Affairs, presented opportunities for future cooperation between WUT and institutions across the Gulf region in areas such as research, capacity building, and knowledge co-creation.
• Prof. Renata Walczak, DSc Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry and Vice-Rector for the Płock Branch, offered welcoming remarks and highlighted WUT’s petrochemical research — an area of particular relevance to the GCC region.

In addition, Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Ejsmont from WUT delivered a timely session on AI-enabled quality control in manufacturing, offering valuable insights into its relevance for the GCC region.

Special thanks are extended to Mrs. Patrycja Kluź from our Center for International Cooperation for her excellent coordination and support in preparing the event, to Mrs. Monika Popper from Futures Diamond for her central role in organising the course, and to Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Ejsmont from WUT for his valuable contributions.

The Warsaw University of Technology extends its appreciation to Futures Diamond, the Futures Capacity Academy, and all participants for an inspiring week of learning and exchange. This collaboration reaffirmed WUT’s role as an open and engaged partner in advancing international dialogue on innovation, foresight, and sustainable development.
